A former doll club member packed hers in a moving box when she moved. When she unpacked it a month later, the acid from the cardboard had changed the color of the hood. The rest was fine. I guess it was touching the cardboard.
It's a really cool car. I sold mine a year or two ago because I ran out of room.
Recently, I took the plunge and bought an NRFB version of Barbie's '57 turquoise blue Chevy Bel Air. Back in 1989, Mattel forgot to pack the directions so I had to buy some and then wait for their arrival.
So since I couldn't do much else yesterday, I put it together. Wish I had my Barbie & the Sensations dolls out to pose with it, but it's still very cool. It also took an hour to put together with my dad and I both working on it. No wonder these things don't show up in good shape all that often. I can't imagine anyone but the most dedicated parent putting this thing completely together. And it wasn't easy, either.
Forgive the background on these photos. This thing is huge in comparison to most Barbie cars, save the Star Traveler or the Rocker bus.
