Remember, weather fluctuates short-term while climate fluctuates long-term.
To suggest the climate is changing based on a year or two is like saying the stock market will forever go in the direction it went in the last day or two. And as you've clearly noticed - there's no shortage of such unscientific minds!
I think it's fair to say the planet is warming but I don't believe we can say any changes in hurricanes are due to it. Not yet anyway...
When you see a Cat 5 strike north of Florida --- then maybe we can say "oh crap."
Cheers!

: If this story was to indicate cyclone activity
: is down despite global warming 2 points come
: to mind.
: First why is the Atlantic basin so busy the
: past 15 years & is cooler water in the
: East pac causing the pacific to churn out
: less systems. Why have we gone so long
: without Elnino?
: My second point is that many scientist's
: have pointed to stronger hurricanes &
: not nessesarily more but the Atlantic is
: churning out much stronger hurricanes than
: in the past. You see this is Dr Grays
: argument about global warming & this ACE
: chart will be his proof to continue his
: concept that hurricanes will not be stronger
: or more plentiful. Yet no one can explain
: what is going on in the Atlantic basin.
