I like the idea of building my own and John Hunt kindly e mailed me some fuel consumption figures, advising a 582 will burn 13 litres/hr two up. A friend's 582 Blade burns 20 in the cruise and 23 on circuits. The plugs run chocolaty white so the mixture seems reasonable. Thanks guys. Mike H

Do I build or do I buy ? Anyone care to comment.
have been mending aeroplanes for 30+ years. I would like to put a year into building, but might buy in the £ 5K range if I can get something of similar capability. At least if I build I know the build quality.
I am thinking of a 503 twin carb as a less thirsty alternative. Anyone care to e mail me their actual fuel consumption figures ? and comments on engine/prop/gearbox combo's. Your knowledge would help me make a better decision.
