I really do hate Carla. Besides that we have to look at what General Gotovina did for Croatia during the war and it is widely believed that he behaved proffesionaly while conducting his army in Oluja etc... now didnt he already do a service to Croatia by defending it? and winning the battles that would eventually lead to winning the war? so let me get this straight after putting his life on the line, winning battles to free Croatia, he should now after all is said and done hand himself over to the same bastards who never wanted to see a free Croatian in the first place? very interesting.(very weasel like of the EU) we should ask ourselves the question how many innocent Croatians from Bosna and Hercegovina are already sitting and serving thier time in European prisons?(sentenced by the hague) did they get fair trials? did they get the longest sentences out of anyone involved in the war? Also we have to ask ourselves is the EU planning on accepting Croatia individualy? like Slovenia or as part of a package involving once again the Serbs and the rest of the west Balkans?
Mesic and Racan are in a tough position because of the HDZ in a way. But they should show some back bone too. If i was president and i knew Ante Gotovina was an honourable man(which i think he is) I would tell Carla Del Ponte that yes Mr. Gotovina is in Croatia and that he is going to stay here a free man and if you want to get him you will have to send your police or army in to get him because are not giving him up for your bullshit union and thier discusting and insulting demands. And thats why I would never even come close to becoming president or someone important lol its easy to say things but the consequences area different story but anyways thats how I feel and thats what I would say.
: I have a purely theoretical question. Since
: Croatia declared independence, the stated
: goal of both the HDZ government as well as
: the current one has been for Croatia to join
: the European Union. Additionally, while
: support for joining the EU has cooled
: slightly, the majority sentiment is still
: very positively tilted toward joining. For
: the sake of argument, lets set aside
: discussions about the pros and cons of
: joining the EU. We know that the Croatian
: constitution requires full cooperation with
: the Hague tribunal, just like any
: international treaty or agreement that it
: signs. So, if we look purely from the
: context of responsibility and accountability
: to the Croatian people and if the EU cites
: Gotovinas fugitive status as one of the main
: obstacles to Croatia joining the EU, does he
: have a responsibility to do whats best for
: Croatia? In that framework, does Gotovina
: hiding from the court actually turn him from
: a hero into a traitor? Is it the duty of
: someone who places himself in the service of
: his country to follow orders and do whats
: best for the country, putting aside any
: personal apprehensions or fears? Does he have
: a duty to march into this battle or can he
: hide from it? I fully recognize his service
: and sacrifice for his country during the
: war
my question refers to the current battle.
: If emotion is eliminated from the
: equation
is he a hero or a traitor? The
: question ultimately becomes where do we place
: the greatest value
the past or the
: future
service and sacrifice or economic
: expansion
the welfare of the nation or the
: welfare of one man?
