Like in the past 10 years or so do you say that everyone involved in the HDZ is corrupt and incompatent just becuase some of thier leaders have been? NO! My father like others is a stuanch supporter of the HDZ and has given alot of time and money to thier party yet is 100% honest and an honourable human being. While I may disagree with him on some political views he is no less a Croatian than anybody else. I don't believe in guilt by association at all. I agree with you that they were not a popular movement brought to power by the will of the people. I am all for democracy and democratic principuls and practices. Breifely I will make two points I veiw Italian imperilism, expantion and ambition on Croatia no different to Hungarian, Serbian or whoever else feels that way inclined. I would stop it with every means at my disposal. Like I said before I veiw all Croatians as the same and all of our regions with impartiality unlike some Croats who stupidly espouse that some Croats are less Croats for one reason or another. My second point is I believe if you live by the sword you die by the sword. Pavelic should have stayed and suffered the same consequences as the poor people the supposedly cared so much about. Or was it a case of looking after his own interest like he had done all along.........? I do not wish to turn this into a Pavelic bashing exercise but facts are facts and all history owes the dead is the truth!
The rank and file like my grandfather and your grandfather and many others who served Croatia believing they were doing the right thing at the time. The people who never sought any kudos, headlines or attention. People who didn't exploit the situation to benefit themselves through crimminal or immoral practices. People who couldn't hurt a fly yet are forever labelled brandished as Nazi/ Ustase/ Fascist genocidal Croatian scum. People who didn't have the choice of fleeing to a comfortable exsistance who were slaughtered were they stood. They are my heroes and they are the ones I wish to follow in thier fotsteps.
I also stated that Ante Pavelic was not a good leader to see if anyone would disagree. I can state many more examples of were he did wrong however the last topic was not exclusively about him and maybe a topic for another day.
