Posted by bb on October 1, 2003, 9:11 pm, in reply to "Re: We're on the same page" Option two is the easy way out, a short cut and whenever you take that route you get found out in the end. Option two is a huge comprimise that legitimises (Dayton does to some extent) the Serb military, political and ideological ambition on Bosna and futher cemments her gains. I'd hate to harp on the past but we need to do two things properly which we did not do in the past. One- to listen to the collective voices of the Croats in BiH. Two- treat all Croats the same regardless of what region they are from and political preference they have ect... Do not give preferential treatment to some and lip service to others (and you all know what I'm talking about). The way it's going with the internationalists these days is that they want to come up with some sort of phsyco Swiss model for BiH. I see a comprimise that won't happen but it would be a nice thought. A comprimise that gives more of a chance for future peace and stability in the region and is fair. They can have their Swiss model bullshit if Croatia is granted it's Banovinas boaders (including bosanska Posavina and a rough Herceg Bosna). The new BiH would be far more compact and it would negate much of Croatias curfufull.
While I respect each individuals right to make thier own choices in life I will not have a bar of supporting option two in theory or in practice. To me it is defeatist and it will only blemish the future prospects for those Croats who remain in BiH. I am still of the view that we should do everything in our means to facilitate the return of Croats thoughout BiH to thier ancestral homes and we should continue to support those who remain there to this day.
What does it say about our past going forward in this century? Croats have been under more worser conditions in the past and continued to fight and stay true to thier nation. What the Ottomans did. Yugoslavia was totlitarian and dealt with Croat dissidents ruthlessly. Today we have a small voice but we have choice and freedoms we could only have dreamt about in the past. We have an independant Croatia which might have it's hands tied at the moment but it can support BiH Croats through non political means at least.
I still believe in total victory. It is achieveable and I will never give up hope.
