to "pick-up" He does that just fine when we tell him to get a toy to play with, but when he is done, the toy stays where he tires of it... LOL... He does like his ball bucket though, and thinks it wonderful to knock it down off the shelf so he can scramble after all the balls.
Yesterday he did something I have never seen a dog do... We gave him the stallions jolly ball since Sureyn wont play with it. He loves to have you throw it, or kick it so he can fetch it back to you. Yesterday we threw it over the fence into the horse pasture. Banjo knows there is only one narrow slit he can squeeze through to get into the pasture so runs through that to get the ball. As he approaches the narrow opening though I could see him slowing down as if he was thinking it through. He tried to wedge the ball through first with his mouth, then went through the opening, reached through the bars to try and pull the ball through... frustrated he went back through the fence and walked up and down looking for a bigger opening, not letting go of that big ball... he tried the opening again and then put that ball down, put his paws on it to deflate it flat and then pulled it through...
I couldn't believe that he could think things like that through so tried it again... tossed the ball into the pasture. Banjo happily went after it... when he got to the narrow opening, put the ball down, put his feet on it and pulled it through. I tried a 3rd time just to see if he was actually doing what I thought he was doing and he did the same thing... He is so smart sometimes its scary.
When I was at the show last night with Sally and Liz, they had a barndog class... watching those dogs jump Sally said I should have brought Banjo cause we could have just started with a 3 ft fence to knock off all the other dogs and won the class... LOL
