Thank's for the info Mr Mortimer and McCullim 'tis appreciated. As I listen to many different heavy metal bands I think I often hear alot of different sounds, especially with bands who have been going a long time such as Judas Priest. I mean from their Rocka Rolla album which only I seem to like to Demolition the latest has an emence difference. Unfortunatly though money is sparce and I only have one main amp, effects pedal,Fender strat as well as a Sunn Mustange (strat copy) and a customized Squire Strat. However I try and make the most. It's good to hear how to achieve a greater variety of sounds from experts like your selves. Also congratulations on your exceptional devotion to your fans such as myself, you never fail to post messages or thank anyone.
Up the Holocaust!!!

: Hi Gerry.....I don't have a consistent
: approach
: to guitar sound as I tend to adapt as
: creatively as possible to whatever gear I
: happen to be using at the time. Like you,
: I've tended to be on the lookout for
: horizon-broadening sounds. I can heartily
: recommend the Behringer V-Amp 2 for
: mega-value. Spend some time with that and an
: entire universe of sound is at your command!
: {Check out the Soldano simulation on bank 9,
: especially}. The Line6 Pod 2 is similar,
: though more expensive.
: As to the sounds on the albums thus
: far...most of them have come from a
: combination of Marshall amplification with
: the Roland GT5 processing unit. The pick ups
: are Jackson and the acoustic sounds come from
: a relatively inexpensive Warfield. {Acoustics
: are quirky.....you can pay thousands for a
: "name" and end up with an average
: guitar, but then you can happen across a
: beauty for next to nothing}.
: I find it interesting that you think the
: sound you like is a bit
: "strange"......no harm in that!
: Think how many influential guitarists came on
: the scene with sounds that were considered,
: "outrageous", at the time but
: initiated a whole new approach to guitar
: sound...and so to songwriting. Where would we
: be without Hendrix and Iommi, for example?
: Everyone thought they were insane when they
: started!
: Thanks again for all your support,
: Gerry....it makes a difference!!!
: John.
: PS...cheers Mr McCullim!!...I'll slip your
: fiver to ya later! ;->

: This one's for John Mortimer. I was wondering
: if you could share some of your guitar sound
: secrets with us as I think you have one of
: the most recognisable sounds ever. And not
: just the guitars but the bnad mix as a whole.
: Being in a band myself I have got my own
: sound which I think sounds a bit odd
: sometimes however I like it. I'm always
: looking to try other sounds to broaden what I
: can create song wise which is why I'm asking
: you about yours to see if I could get
: something similar. Although what I find with
: most guitarists, is that their sounds are
: created mainly on what gear they are using.
: Still anything will be useful.
: Much appreciated Gerry.
