The reason I think : If this helps anybody out there, I am using Windows 98 at home. That In fact it just that simple From my investigation it appears the bug is related to the cmd.exe and For all the details see the forum topic that relats to the bug: http://www.zeusedit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38 Worst comes to worse you could always switch to Zeus Jussi Jumppanen

: Thanks, Dieter, but it was a fix rather than a work-around I was
: after. I have been using TextPad in this way for 18 months. (It
: is aware of the Gnu error message format, allowing one to click
: on error messages and to be taken to the file and line, rather
: like using an IDE.)
this is because a user of the Zeus for Windows IDE reported a similar
error when using the Gnu make utility. The Zeus bug report had the
same symptoms and the exact same error message.
: runs commands in a window using "Command.com" whereas the NT 4
: system at (new) work uses "Cmd.exe". It can't be as straightforward
: as just not using NT though, as I have used this setup on an NT
: machine in the past extensively too.
the way the Gnu tool is managing it's stdin handle. With the help of
the user I was able to come up with a workaround for Zeus for Windows
IDE that might also help fix TextPad.![]()
