As for examples you may wish to look at the H8S/2655 Interface Volume which can be found at the URL below. --Previous Message-- Link: http://www.eu.renesas.com/support/app_notes/h8s_eu.html

You can increase the ammount of memory on your board without changing your micro by using the external address bus on the 21xx series. You have already used this for the LCD and USART so I am sure adding memory will be no problem.
: Hi there!
: I work for a medical company and I'm
: developing a cardiac monitor.
: I'm using the H8S2148AFA20
: micro-controller that has 128Kb of
: program memory. In my bus, I have a
: LCD video-controller (S1D13705) from
: Espon and a 2-USART chip (SCC2292),
: from Phillips.
: I'm in the final stage of my project,
: but the program memory is not enough
: to complete my software.
: Is there another pin-to-pin
: compatible micro controller wich has
: more than 128Kb of program memory?
: How can I increase the program memory
: of my board without change the
: micro-controller? Can I add a
: external flash memory to the bus? How
: can I do this?
: Do you have any application note or
: example circuit wich can I base?
: What are the most appropriated flash
: memory to use in this case?
: Thanks,
: Giovani
