User Mode programming

Hi,
I am new to MCU programming and have been given the task of implementing the USER MODE programming, however i have found it very hard. The MCU i am using is a H8/3067F and i am using an IAR complier and a direct connection via FDT to the MCU. I have the tutorial files provided with the FDT kernal guide but am unsure how to use them. If anyone can offer any help or know of any good documentation at all please respond. Thank you. P.s Do they always make documents hard to follow or is it just me?
