Posted by The Happy Hippy on July 21, 2005, 12:24 pm I have no problem with constructive discussion or comment on the issues to which Powell relates - immigration, asylum, multi-culturalism, racism and the like - but I will not allow this board to be used as a vehicle for anyone who wishes to promote hatred or intolerance or to put blame upon any particular group or groups for the acts we have recently witnessed or the complex issues which Britain faces. At the time I write this, it is by no means proven who those involved in the London Bombings were, and less so do we know how they came to be involved, or what motivation was behind those said to be the bombers or any others involved in the bombings. To assert that the London Bombings are down to one particular cause or set of causes is not factually provable at the present time. To lay blame in any particular direction is likewise unsupportable and does nothing to aid in understanding or revealing what gave rise to those acts. This applies equally to those who blame religious extremists and those who blame British Foreign Policy. Let us accept that those are two reasons behind why the London Bombings may have occured, but likewise accept that it could also be for any other reason or a combination of reasons. The real reason will not be determined by a scorecard of how many people can proclaim the blame to be on one side or another. Thus any messages simply doing that will be deleted. This may be considered censorship by some, but I contend it is line with the last time I took a stance and removed those messages which were deliberately and solely intended to be offensive, filled with hatred or set out to blame one group over all others for some ill in the world. This board was added to allow people to discuss their views as freely as possible, with alternative viewpoints and dissent allowed and I have rarely stood in the way of that, and then only against the most extreme of views. Constructive and informative views are of course welcomed, on any subject, but there are far better places than here for those who wish to take sides and lay blame to discuss their concerns, opinions and feelings.

In the wake of the London Bombings on the 7th July 2005, there appears to be considerable interest arising in what Enoch Powell said in his infamous "Rivers of Blood" speech, and three messages with regard to that have been posted to this board. All three have been deleted, and I will explain why.
