Matthew,
May I suggest that you read 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropits' by Robert Tressell, the story tells of his vision of a true Socialist society where work is done for the benefir of all humans and not for profit.
You can get a copy from 'Bookmarks'in London.
: This is an article that said many
: things I have been saying to friends
: and family for some time. My
: explanation of why I fear the
: future, in another's words.
:
: I've been studying computer
: programming in the hopes of having a
: better chance, but the fact is I'm
: frightened to really try because I
: don't want to have to waste my life
: in work. Life should be worth more
: than this.
:
: At the end of the article you wrote
: "...it's about time we did
: something about it." I agree,
: but the question is, what can we do?
: I have tried to discuss the problem
: with others, but we always run into
: a dead end. Because, as you said
: earlier, "...the system has
: designed itself to be resistant to
: change."
