PIC 2-wire LCD issues

Hi Hippy,
Thanks for your published 2-wire LCD spec for PIC(AXE).
I built a 2-wire module, but found data getting corrupted, no matter how I tweaked the delays and pulse lengths.
Fortunately though, the problem went away when I abandoned the 'diode-and-gate' thing and ran the LCD's Enable pin directly to a third PIC pin.
3 pins instead of 2 - still way better than the 6 pins normally needed :)
So thank you again. You've saved me 3 precious pins.
