There is no minimum distance for the CS Spray to be used on people, you are trained to aim for the eyes and spray until the suspect / offender becomes compliant. It is not CS Gas as there is no gas in it, it is a spray.
Perhaps your son may learn next time to do as he is told and not think he is better than the officer/s who are detaining him???? but i am sure he was inocent as they all are, the Police were in the wrong yet again protecting inocent members of the public.
