I had a right inguinal open hernia repair with mesh in 1999. I was diagnosed with ilioinguinal nerve entrapment d/t the surgery. In 2007 I underwent an additional right groin exploration with nerve transection (they wanted to cut the ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric and genito-femoral nerves) and recurrent hernia repair using a plug. There was damage to the iliohypogastric, a branch of the genito-femoral and obturator nerves. The plug seems to be causing nociceptive pain. I had a Spinal Cord Stimulator placed for the neuropathic pain.
I have noticed that my right testis is a retractile testis, it spontaneously goes into my groin/abd but can be easily withdrawn by hand. There is a positive cremasteric reflex but the teste does not resettle into the scrotum as my right one does. It resides high in the scrotum almost all of the time. There is also a constant dull ache/pain with a "fullness" feeling to the testicle. At times the pain becomes quite severe.
The testicle also appears to be positioned differently in the scrotum following the 2007 surgery. It seems to be rotated or something.
Is this retractile testicle coupled with pain/fullness something I should be concerned about? Should I seek medical advice? Who do I see, urology? General surgery?
Thank you for your help in this matter.
