This is an excellent question. Mesh needs to be strong, but also compliant. The newer meshes work quite well in this space (ultraPro and even parietex). The shaped meshes (3D Max) fit in the space nicely and don't seem to cause any firmness. There is a new, light weight version of the 3D Max coming out in the spring which should be even better. We try to avoid heavy weight plugs and gortex in this space.
