HerniaMD:
I have been having mild to moderate left sided pain since my left inguinal hernia surgery. The surgery was 10 months ago. I was fine (NO PAIN)for the first 6 months. Well anyway, I went for a Pelvic CT Scan with Intravenous and Oral contrast on 9/15/09 and the Conclusion was as follows:
1. There is a 1.8 cm fatty distention proximal left inguinal canal.
2. Evidence of prior left inguinal hernia repair.
3. There are some left periprostatic calcifications.
4. There is a 6 mm left pelvic phlebolith.
5. There are small metallic clips in the left inguinal region.
6. There is no pelvic sidewall adenopathy.
7. No femoral adenopathy is noted.
8. No destructive bony changes are noted.
9. There is no periintestinal fat edema.
10. There is no diverticulitis observed.
11. No pericecal inflammatory process is noted.
12. Otherwise unremarkable pelvis.
Can you tell me what this allmeans? Anything good or bad. What is a 1.8cm fatty distention? What is a 6 mm left pelvic phlebolith? My doctor did not mention any of this, other than it looks fine. If it was fine, why did he then send me for an MRI?
Thank You, Joe.
