the x-ray can easily be done before surgery. I assume you have titanium tacks. The newer tacks are absorbable and won't be seen by x-ray. The titanium tacks are easily seen on MRI or CAT scans. I would do the x-ray first, then you know exactly where to go at the time of the laparoscopic exploration to remove the problematic tack. It gets a little tricky using fluroscopy (x-ray) at the time of surgery and there is greater exposure to x-rays by the patient.
