Pain while doing pushups?

Hello all - I have had two hernia surgeries - both inguinal - One in November of 07 then another (due to pain from the first) in November 08. I have mesh plugs from both surgeries. My issue - I have been pain free - except when I try to do pushups. When I do,I get inetense pain in the area of my surgeries and then my testicles/scrotum gets swollen. For now - I am just going to stop doing pushups - anyone have any idea whats going on?? Strangely - I can do situps and run fine...
