I had a Barium swallow/upper GI for the post Nissen fundoplication. I have some neck pain, chest pain, back pain, etc. that can be bad at times but can also get better at times. The radiologist told me the wrap looked intact but would have to blow up the x-rays and do some measurements. He saw no hiatal hernia, and said the esophagus looked very good: smooth and narrow. Also, he said, they usually follow up with an endoscopic exam. Can one experience pain and discomfort for quite some time before things finally resolve? I read with horror that if someone has problems after a redo, sometimes they recommend removing the esophagus. I did not know they each redo is harder to do. My surgeon never said anything. Maybe I misunderstood.
