I have had mesh retraction. Can somebody tell me about some of the newer mesh materials. If mesh keeps retracting, what do you think is the best one to try. I am due for a lap exploratory and if the mesh has retracted again I am concerned.
I checked out all of the surgeons mentioned on Dr. Goodyear's board and they all seem to have good credentials, etc. There was about 6 or 7 mentioned. So you can travel to LA, Las Vegas, the East Coast, the NorthWest, etc. But I don't want to be traveling if it is not productive. So I may stay with my current surgeon.
You have various Gortex products, UltraPro, Parietex, TiMesh, etc. Then there are biological meshes which most surgeons say not to use inspite of the fact they sell them. I am not so sure if lap or open is the issue because you can get retraction, etc. from either of these procedures. One paper by Dr. Ramshaw says mesh can produce an inflammatory response.
