Hi
I had keyhole surgery for an inguinal hernia in early 2008, and all has been fine since (although I do get soreness/twinges occasionally if I have been lifting a lot).
I am now intending (from early September)to walk the Camino de Saint James, to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. This involves a walk, over a month, of some 600 miles, carrying a pack of around 8-10 kilos (aprox 14 pounds). I have worried a little about my hernia repair holding up OK, especially as on recent training walks with my pack (most recent around 8 miles)I've been having pulling sensations and soreness on the repair side (although this has eased off quite quickly).
Do you think I'm taking a big risk with this? Any suggestions for minimising? I really want to do it!
I'm a small slim woman of 60 by the way, generally fit and weighing around 9 stone.I have a plant nursery and am always quite active.
With very many thanks for your advice. You're doing a great job here.
