And, many of us who are not doctors but suffering patients will add that anyone who lets a doctor put a plug and patch repair in them at this point is truly out of their mind and playing a nasty roulette. There are serious ramifications if that approach goes bad, as it's difficult and damaging to remove and repair. Along with a number of leading hernia repair surgeons I'm in communication with I would also raise questions about the dual layer mesh systems now in common practice. An arguable position is that these can be problematic for a number of reasons. I'm "wearing" one now, after the plug and patch removal, and I'm in more pain than even before. I'm most likely headed for a third surgery to remove it (Ethicon Ultrapro hernia system). I so wish my doctor (Goodyear) had used only a mesh patch as I had requested...
