There are many meshes that are acceptable for hernia repair and most surgeons use a product that they are comfortable with and have experience with. In general, a "lightweight" mesh is preferred for most hernia repairs. These lightweight products, such as UltraPro, cause less reaction and keep at a minimum the risk to the spermatic cord in terms of scarring.
