Hello ... I'm brand new to this site, and very glad I found it. Perhaps I can get some help and info about this topic.
I had surgery done on inguinal hernia on April 28. Same day home. For the first 2 or 3 days there was considerable pain at and around the incision, but now, 9 days later most of the pain exterior to the incision is pretty much gone.
The problem I am having is that I am experiencing significant burning type pain at the incision site when sitting or walking for very short distances. It is not geting any better day to day. In fact, I can't even walk down the isle of a grocery or hardware store without having to leave because of the pain. Meds don't touch it, only leave me drowsy, but still in pain. The only relief I get from one of these "attacks" is to lie down. Relief then comes almost instantly.
Is this pain "normal" this soon after surgery? I was under the impression that 4 to 5 days post surgery most of the pain would be gone. I'm beginning to get a bit concerned as I am not a "sit around" type of person.
I have contacted Dr.'s office and was told that this would get better and to call back in a week. I have an appt to see Dr. in 2 weeks.
Anyone out there have similar situation or offer any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.....hope you're all doing well!
