I know this sounds illogical and insane, BUT I have arthritis in my feet which got bad and needed to start walking with a cane for a while. Then I noticed I had a lump which turned out to be an incisional hernia in my stomach below my belly button. Ok, I had that surgery the end of March and was healing more or less uneventfully, if not slower than I would have thought. Today I had to be out and about and brought my cane to use so I could be on my feet and to my surprise the pain around where the hernia was came back! I felt like the whole bulge was back, although it had not. So much so that I couldn't get a whole sentence out in a full exhale, but its not bulging and I don't think I have another hernia. I do think though that the cane is causing a strain on those muscles and now I believe it to be responsible for my incisional hernia in March. How does this make sense? Please someone, explain it to me. I need the cane but I can't stand the discomfort or cause another hernia repair to be necessary. Does using a cane put THAT much strain on your stomach muscles??
