Hernia MD: you stated "mesh is almost never removed during a repair for a recurrence. A lap recurrence is best approached via open techniques."
1. If the recurrence is from a "contracted" mesh, can this mesh be safely removed instead of doing an open technique?
2. Could the mesh be hard to remove, even among the best surgeons?
3. Would you be concerned with mesh sticking to the muscles which would make it hard to remove?
4. Could just a new piece of mesh be placed over it to cover any new defect?
5. Would you recommend going to a Dr. Ramshaw, if this is my concern?
6. Leaving the mesh in that was put in laparoscopically, would and then putting an mesh via an open method, can this create a muscle imbalance?
thank you so much, you have been quite helpful
