Subject: Redo of hernia repair did not go well
Dear Hernia MD
I had a laparoscopic procedure done to the left groin to fix what is called a "direct hernia" back in 2003. After a little over a year I started to get some pain back and it got worse. I was in another state at the time and found what I believed to be a competent surgeon. He went in and discovered the mesh had migrated. Again, through the laparoscopic approach, they went in and took out this mesh and replaced it in 2006. I started to have pain from this immediately....not because the hernia repair was not good but there was insufficient peritoneum to guard against aheshions. Initially, they went back in and performed a lysis of adhesions. This helped but 3 months later they came back. The went in again and tried it 5 months ago, and the pain is coming back again. It is quite bothersome. Do you know any doctors in the California area or Colorado area where they address this problem? I would appreciate any help you have.
P.S. I am not sure the original surgeon who did this repair was fautly in allowing this to happen. But this second surgeon who fixed the hernia and created adhesions, should he be responsible?
