i probably have the beginnings of a hernia. i am currently w/o insurance and will get a cat scan after i get hospital coverage next week. there is no actual perforation but looks like the abdominal wall is weak on the right side of my abdomen in inguinal area. it bulges more than left when relaxed and standing, it is visible. it is not pin-point localized but looks like a substantial area of defect.
if i tighten abdominal muscles it is invisible. periodically i get unpleasant sensation in this area which sometimes radiates to the right side of scrotum. doc found a right hydrocele with ultrasound a couple of days ago, i took some motrin and it seems to be much better but the abdominal discomfort still appears and the asymmetric minor bulge on the right is still there.
anyway, to make a long story short... if it indeed turns out to be a hernia i would like some advice about where to go. i may be able to get medicaid but it will take 3-4 months and i don't want to wait. meanwhile the hospital coverage will not cover surgeon fees or anesthesiologist. so i will still probably have to pay a couple of thousand $ out of pocket. so maybe i am better off going to the British Hernia Center. what would that cost me? whom would you recommended? i am very concerned about quality. i want it done once and done right. is there anyone in queens or long island who performs the procedure same way (tension free, mesh on the inside) with same success rate as BHC? if it costs around $3k or less i may just bite the bullet and go to london, if this is really the best place.
please help. sorry for the long post. i work out a lot and try to stay in shape, but now i can't do anything, am constantly preoccupied with this and in general am very upset and depressed over this whole thing.
if there are comments you would prefer to send in private, my email is vectorbundle@gmail.com. thanks.
