IÕve been researching my options for hernia repair for several months now and am finally down to two options. I have one small-to-medium-sized inguinal hernia on one side and a budding one on the other. I have also been told that I have a very small belly button hernia. All of this seems to suggest that laparoscopic is the best choice: fixing everything at once; I have the following options with two different surgeons: Surgeon #1 Hernias would be repaired with Gore bio-absorbable plug with Covidien polyester mesh overlay. Glue would be used to anchor the materials. Belly button would get a stitch, as far as I understand. Operation would be performed in a local hospital. The doctor is a very experienced laparoscopic surgeon, considered a ŌTop DoctorĶ in the area. Surgeon #2 Hernias would be repaired with Covidien polyester mesh overlay (I think). Operation would be performed in an outpatient surgery facility. The doctor is a very experienced hernia surgeon, considered a ŌTop DoctorĶ in the area, does most of his repairs with the Kugel patch. IÕm inclined to go with surgeon #2, but IÕm not sure about the Gore plug. It sounds good, but I donÕt know much about it. IÕm interested in the TiMesh, but I have yet to find a surgeon who has uses it. Which would you choose? With thanks, EET4
