It is very clear to me that patients who have problems after hernia surgery (either open or lap) are a result of poor technique most of the time. Older heavyweight mesh does factor in as well as the type of fixation. Better, lightweight mesh and elimination of fixation will help to lower the risk of chronic pain syndromes. A cord lipoma is herniation of retroperitoneal fat and should be removed if you are in the groin fixing a hernia. It is very easy to remove the lipomas in the majority of cases.
