I had the open surgery on a left inguinal hernia done 5 weeks ago to the day. I had the mesh inserted during my surgery. My doctor is one of the best in my state, and has done thousands of hernia surgeries.
I have worn a jock strap literally every day since the surgery. With that said, however, I have been feeling pain on my left side for the past week and a half, very similar to the pain/ache I felt before my surgery. I called my doctor's office, who told me that was "normal." However, I'm VERY worried about this pain, as it's pretty consistent, and as I said, feels just like it did pre-surgery. Basically, as if there's a slight string of pain going from just below my inscision, down into my left testicle.
I also, after years of the left side bothering me yet NEVER even the slightest hint of pain on the right side, am now feeling the same pain on the right side - only not as severe nor frequent.
Is it possible that after having the left side repaired, I somehow may have strained the right enough to cause a hernia?
Also, is the pain I'm feeling in my left side normal for being only 5 weeks post surgery?
