see my response below. The lap repair is the best repair for you without question. Lipomas can be removed. The blood supply to the testiicle is LESS at risk than an open repair. I use staples (tacks) in less than 5% of my cases. When I do use tacks, I use the new, absorbable tacks. Good luck.
