You like to put in as large a piece as possible laparoscopically to cover the MPO. This is an advantage of the laparoscopic approach, you can put in a bigger piece than you can with an open procedure. The majority of normal size adult men (95%) will need a piece of mesh about 4" x 6". Bigger is usually better in hernia surgery.
