Hernia MD inquiry about mesh dimensions

Hernia MD, what is the normal dimensions for a mesh inserted laparoscopically? After some various hernia surgeries, they inserted a mesh laparoscopically. Is the ideal size 3x6", 4x6" or something else? I had a consultation with my surgeon and he said 4x6" would be too big. What do you think? I have had some problems for some time and think maybe the mesh may have been too small.
