Hi:
My name is Cristian and I am from Barcelona Spain. I was operated from a right groin hernia with open procedure and tension free mesh method. My first three months were miserable. I found this helpful board at that time.
The pains has slowly gone away and I am starting again to work out at the gym. Now I am pain free if I don't stretch my abdominal muscles or push with my finger on the top region of the scar. I still have no feeling in the groin area under the scar.
I have the feeling that some kind of nerve damage was done during the operation.
I really hope that at some point the pain will go completely away.
I know familiars that went the same procedures with excellent results ( no pain after 1week) and I have read horror stories on the web.
My only advice would be to choose well your surgeon.....like any job there are excellent professionals out there and some that don't have a clue of what they are doing. I had bad luck and didn't choose the right doctor. Do yourself a favor and visit quite a few.....you don't get under a knive everyday.
All the best and good luck.
Cristian
