Hello Hernia MD:
I would appreciate your response on this. I had open inguinal hernia repair right side on 1/21. Did OK for the first couple of days but then had extreme constipation, needed to use enema after the 4th day. I thought this was due to the pain meds, however, I am now off the meds and the constipation persists. I am concerned, am trying everything to relieve this. My other concern is that I may have done some damage due to straining (although I tried to keep this to a minimum). Is it possible to do some damage this way? What else can I do? I return to see my surgeon for followup appointment on 2/3. Your input would be appreciated or anyone else who has had experience with this problem. Thanks!!
