Hi!
I had an inguinal hernia for about 7 years. It never caused pain, it only bothered my because there was a big lump in my groin. About 1 month ago I decided to get it fixed. It was repaired laproscopicaly(sp), and I walked that day.
Then I noticed that the quality, and quantity of my seamen was just 'different'. The problem became worse quickly. At this moment I have no 'sexual' feeling in my penis. I can get hard, but sex is no longer pleasurable. I can only ejaculate with extreme difficulty, and then it is just watery.
I realize now that a major part of my life is over. I will probably never have a wife or a family. Time to think about joining the priest hood, or becoming a monk. Sueing is not an option, because I am just not that kind of person, unless I thought the surgeon botched the operation intentionally. I realize now it is just one of those things.
So my advice is not to get your hernia repaired unless it is causing pain, strangulated, or there are other complications. Do not do it for cosmetic reasons.
My doctor, and other doctors on the web say there is minimal risk involved. My experience, and this web site show otherwise.
-Remember not all hernias need to be repaired.
Thanks for listening
