There's no "better" in any absolute sense. Look through past posts here and elsewhere on the web. Your biggest concern should be how much experience your surgeon has, regardless of the method he or she uses. As you'll see if you do some research, there's a risk of complications and chronic pain with mesh usage, unless you can find a highly experienced, well regarded lap surgeon, my opinion is you're better off at Shouldice.
