Hernia MD,
I would like to commend you for the time you take to answer peoples questions on this board. I know you must be busy but you definetly go above and beyond. With that being said I would like to caution you of your statements on the plug and patch. I found an article published in HERNIA on Dr.
Millikan's modified plug paper. His stats are remarkable and I challenge you to point me to a paper that is as sound as his. IE:
2038 patients, 99% follow up from 2-10 yrs with physician follow up at 1 week as well as the 1st and 2nd year post-operatively and phone follow up every 6 years after, 3 recurrences (.15%), only 367 pts (18%) needed prescription pain meds, 95% (1936) returned to work within 3 days, 9 NINE patienst treated for chronic pain, 0 mesh infections, 28 min op time, 47 min recovery time. This does not sound faulty to me. Oh, BARD did NOT fund this study. You seem to bash this technique but refer people to get Proceed placed in them...a multiple recalled product. There is no other study with this type of data with this type of FOLLOW UP. I am not trying to attack you but merely stating facts with clinical backings. Thank you again for your time and care with this board.
