I worked as a Paramedic, in a very busy Urban City, and started having severe left testicle pain after lifting a patient. I let it go for awhile, thinking it would go away, but it became worse and worse. First I was diagnosed with Epididymitis, and after a couple months of every antibiotic under the sun, the Urologist wanted to remove my Epididymis. I went for a second opinion to a different Urolgist, who thought it was maybe my back, but he referred me to a general surgeon who said I may have a small hernia, and it was up to me whether or not to have it repaired.
When I first saw my primary for it, I told him it felt like I pulled or strained something, and he said that was so unlikely, and against my wishes sent me to the Urologist. That's how it all began.
As to the nerve blocks and steroid injections, they have never helped the groin/inguinal pain. The lidocaine injection that I had into my hip joint itself did help the just the hip pain, but not the outside of the thigh pain. I am going in for a Psoas steroid injection next friday to see if that is irritating everything.
I have been taking anti inflammatories 3x a day for the past 2 1/2 years, as well as a few trials of Prednisone. If this next injection doesn't do anything, I am asking to go back to a different hernia specialist to see about doing a surgical exploration of the Hernia surgical area to see if something is screwed up in there. And my orthro surgeon is talking about trying another spinal nerve block.
Thanks for the info. I am continuing to consider all my options.
