The space where we repair hernias is the same space where the prostate surgery is performed. An expert at laparoscopy can sometimes perform a laparoscopic hernia repair after prostate surgery. A one sided never before fixed inguinal hernia can be repaired either open or laparoscopic. There is a quicker recovery after the lap repair, but after a few weeks, there is no difference between the two groups. Check the american Hernia Society's website for a full list of members in your area. You may want to see Dr. Dennis Fowler in New York. He is a hernia and laparoscopic expert.
