I created, if that is the correct word, a mild hernia for myself when I was 21. The symptoms were pain in my right testicle and the right testicle was in an ascended position all the time. The doctors could not feel anything significant and a repair was not completed at that time. When I was 28, I again went to a doctor (testicular pain and ascended testicle for 7 years) and had the hernia repaired (plug method - open surgery). For the first 3-4 days after surgery my testicle was pain free and hanging in a healthy feeling descended position (actually forgot what is was suppose to feel like). After the 4 or 5 days, the testicular pain returned and the testicle ascended again (simultaneously). The surgery cut the pain in half and repaired the hernia. Now 38, I went back to the same surgeon and explained that I had pain since the last surgery and wondered if there was any worthwhile action. We agreed to operate (open) again, replacing the plug with a mesh only solution. Although there was a noticeable bulge in the area of the original hernia, the purpose of the second surgery was to reduce the pain (in my opinion). The surgery occurred 20 days ago. For the first 7 days my testicle was descended and pain free (felt just like the other testicle). Then on day 8 I starting feeling pain in my testicle and noticed it was not as descended as before. By the end of day 9, the testicle had ascended and the level of pain is similar to before the most recent surgery. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your help!
