If there is a noticable lump that you can push in (or reduce) while standing then you've got a hernia. But the CT already confirmed this I believe you said. That said, how much does it bother you??? I just had a massive incisional hernia repaired. I did the watch an wait thing for about a year and a half and I can tell you that it never gets better only bigger. The only way to fix it is surgery. If it bothers you (interferes with your life) find a surgeon that has plenty of experience with hernia repair (lap and open)that you really feel comfortable with and have it fixed. A good surgeon will be able to identify any risk factors and give you sound information. I was afraid and I let it get the best of me. The surgery was by no means an easy one, but I can tell you that I wish I had gotten it over with sooner...I just put off the inevitable.
