I am female and had open hernia surgery 20 days ago for a typical hernia. I was getting quite better and had the swollen healing ridge. The last day or two I have had a pain on the left side of the incision (hernia was on the right side of my body) and it is getting really painful. The incision site looks fine although the ridge is not as prominent there. i did wake up coughing a couple of nights ago and wondered if I did some kind of damage.
I am scared, but the insision looks OK and while there is new pain it is not excruciating.
Any thoughts???
