The second procedure was mostly to attempt to reduce pain, in my opinion. However, there was a significant bulge around the area of the originally repaired hernia (it had been that way more or less for years). Although, a reoccuring or second hernia was not positively identified prior to surgery, the area felt like it would pop in and out (something like the lid of a canning jar) often when stressed.
