Hi- I have been diagnosed with a small inguinal hernia. There is regular, moderate pain, a bulge, pain when lifting.
When I asked the doctor about surgery-he would use mesh to repair it-he said that surgery wouldn't necessarily cure the pain, but would clear up the bulge. One question is: if its not necessarily going to clear up the pain, is it worth the admittedly minor risks, to do surgery? does surgery generally not help hernia pain? will the hernia inevitably get worse over time if I don't do the surgery? and finally: if the operation won't necessarily cure the pain, what exactly is the goal of doing it? thank you in advance for your time..
