In December I had two side by side incisional hernia's repaired. Just like the gentleman a few posts "down" I too had to have a colon resection and I got this hernia immediately after. I lived with it for quite a while since nobody seemed to know what it was, but we got it diagnosed and I had it repaired. The doctor didn't do it laparoscopically, but did it through the same incision as my colon resection was done - which was done laparoscopically, but I still have a three inch incision at my navel where they pulled the stuff out. Anyway, I waited two months before I started lifting after my hernia repair and did everything very light so as not to injure myself and still don't do any ab exercises. But, for some reason the last week or so I am noticing my alien, the hernia bump, is back and it hurts. Could this be scar tissue and if so, why would it still be so sore and bumpy - you can SEE the bump when you look at my stomach, even with clothes on. I hate this thing so much because my stomach just looks swollen ever since I had this surgery. Could it take more than three months to get back to normal?? My surgeon didn't have the best, or any really, bed side manner so I was hoping to get some input from you guys before I go see him and either feel stupid for going when I don't need to or something along those lines. Ugh, but I should go see him, huh??
Thanks for "listening". Oh, and I am a 30 yo female and I am not sure what exact type of mesh the surgeon used or exactly how much, but it was roughly a 5 or 6 inch piece square.
Cheers.
