Now it has been 2 weeks that I my right hernia was repaired with open surgery. I am 35 years old man. My surgeon told me that in 1 week I would be recovered and pain free. The story is quite different.
- When I woke up from general anaesthetic I felt terrible pain( I already felt that this was not normal. The father of my girlfriend has only mild pain the first day and was fine in 3 days. I staid one horrible night and was discharged the next day. I could barely walk to the car. The next 4 days I stand up only to go to the bathroom as the pain was unbearable.
- When I arrived at home I noticed that under the incission wound was a path of skin (where the hernia was) that had gone totally numb.
14 days later The patch is still numb. The scar is healing well but I have to deal with:
1. Burning sensation in the upper side of the scar,in the groin where the numbness ends and in the inner side of the thig. I can bear this burning pain and I have the confidence it will decrease.
BUT what I am really worried about is one point (1 inch) above my scar where is stabs like a knive when I stretch, breath to much move my belly inside or outside, walk quickly or touch with the finger. All the other parts of the scar (quite hard now) are ok(besides the burning) but this point is giving me acute pain (not if I am resting laying down).
It's the same place where the unbearable pain came from the first days of surgery. I suspect it could be a damaged nerve. Don't believe it's an adhesions as I had it from day one a scar tissue was not formed yet.
Could it be another thing? Or should I wait more as 2 weeks is not enough to see again my surgeon. I am confused as my 67 old father-in-law was perfect with no pain on the 4th day.
Thank you very much for your help.
Cris
